Founded by Frank Folsom Smith in 1982, The Folsom Group has offices in Sarasota, Florida, and Charlottesville, Virginia. Founded on a core ethic of environmental stewardship, the firm's work encompasses architecture, town planning and urban design, green building consulting, and real estate development. The principals have extensive experience in architecture, planning, and green design and development.

Frank Folsom Smith, FAIA - Founder, CEO
Frank Folsom Smith is an architect and developer with more than 40 years of award-winning experience in environmentally sustainable design and development. His early design work was recently featured in the book, The Sarasota School of Architecture, which surveys post-war Florida's pioneering architectural movement. As a charter member of the Congress for the New Urbanism, Mr Smith has been involved in traditional town planning as a tool for creating more sustainable communities, and he was also one of the founding board members of the Florida House Institute for Sustainable Development. Both a registered architect and a registered landscape architect, Mr. Smith was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 1996. He maintains residences in both Sarasota and Charlottesville.

Richard Price, AIA - President
Richard Price is a nationally known expert in sustainable design and planning with more than 25 years of experience. His work includes the campus planning, sustainable community planning and the design of numerous commercial and residential green buildings. While Director of Community Design for William McDonough + Partners, he was responsible for the master plan for the revitalization of the Ford Rouge Plant in Dearborn, Michigan, and led the Williamsburg Crossroads charrette team to develop a plan for future development that embodied the best principles of historic Williamsburg as an alternative to sprawl. Mr. Price is a registered architect in New York and Virginia and is currently teaching at the U.Va School of Architecture.

James Duxbury - VP Design
Jim Duxbury is the principal designer for The Folsom Group. His work is focused on a detailed understanding of natural environments and systems. He has practiced sustainable design for more than ten years. His work includes award-winning commercial and residential buildings in the US and abroad. He has taught design at the Boston Architectural Center and the School of Architecture at the University of Virginia. Prior to joining The Folsom Group, Mr. Duxbury was a designer for William McDonough + Partners, a nationally-known firm focusing on environmentally conscious design.
